Frequently asked questions

Getting started

What do I need to run CopyHop?

A Mac running macOS 15 Sequoia or later. The iPhone and iPad app needs iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later. For Sync, every device has to be signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud turned on.

How do I get a Clip from my iPhone to my Mac?

Copy it on your iPhone, then open CopyHop, or send it with the share sheet. iOS doesn’t let apps read the clipboard in the background, so CopyHop picks it up when you open it.

Your data and Sync

Where are my Clips stored?

On each of your devices. With Sync on, they also go to your private iCloud database, which belongs to your Apple Account. We don’t run servers and have no access to your Clips.

What syncs?

Every Clip, in every Category, and your Pins. You can turn sync off for any Category, and Clips over your Sync Size Cap stay on the device you copied them on.

How big can a synced Clip be?

25 MB by default. You can raise the Sync Size Cap to 200 MB in settings. Anything bigger stays local.

What does the Local-only badge mean?

That Clip stays on the device it was copied on. It’s either bigger than your Sync Size Cap or in a Category with sync turned off.

How fast is Sync?

When both devices are on the same network with CopyHop open, they talk directly and a Clip usually arrives in about a second. Otherwise it goes through iCloud, which takes a little longer.

Pro, Trial and Licence

How does the Trial work?

You get 14 days of Sync from the first time a Mac turns it on. When the 14 days are up, Sync pauses on that Mac until you enter a Licence. Nothing else changes.

How many Macs can use one Licence?

Three.

Is it a subscription?

No. Pro is $4.99, paid once.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Email hello@copyhop.app within 14 days of buying, with your order number, and we’ll refund the full price. You don’t need to give a reason.

iPhone and iPad

Why does the CopyHop keyboard ask for Full Access?

iOS only lets a keyboard read data it shares with its app when Full Access is on. Your Clips live in storage shared with the CopyHop app, so the keyboard needs Full Access to show them. It doesn’t record or send what you type, and the rest of the app works without it.

Does the iPhone app cost anything?

No. It’s free, with no in-app purchases.
